60 revolutions per minute

It's hard to ignore the atmosphere of political reawakening and '60 revolutions per minute' attitude these days.
I am bad with words, i can only visualise.

New York City

For some reason NY sets me in the mood for skulls. In this terrific studio in SoHo I can draw all day long. And not forgetting about my lovely churches...

But, you know, HeliosLight should be banned...Though, still Masha's so awesome here, she distracts from bad typography.

Heddal stave church | HEDDAL STAVKIRKE

You don't need to be religious to fell in love with churches.

So, do the OKKULTOKRATI boys, who have stunning artwork for their albums/merch/gigs.
It's 'genius and killer artist Sebastian Rusten' who stands behind it.
Norwegian stave churches are a hell of inspiration. This one has a real prototype.

Heddal Stavkirke located at Heddal in Notodden municipality, Norway.

Another totally hypnotizing one is Gol stave church originally from Gol.

Hope, one day i gonna make it to Norway and get impressed till the end of my days.
Russian churches have been my long-term obsessions. Especially this one – Kiži . It has been my love for many years. Shame that i cannot find time to make a trip here.

Кожи | Skins

Rig tattoos on breasts with drips of oil.
Cause oil is the new milk.
Nourishment of oligarchs.
Wow.
What a powerful symbol and a metaphor of a modern Russia!
Which is actually true for the rest of the world as well.

I am not a huge contemporary art fan but sometimes when i come across things like this i find some remnants of respect inside my head to this genre of art.
It's a piece of 'SKINS' project by russian artist Irina Nakhova.
She basically took the idea that 'tattoos tell the story of your life' and made an interesting exhibition with political angle.
If you live in London you can pay a visit to London Art Sensus Gallery where currently 'SKINS' is present.

Argument 5.45 | Аргумент 5.45

I am so lucky to follow Argument 5.45 since their first shows, watching them evolve and becoming who they are now.
Their new album 'Atavism' is just mindbending and killing me. It hypnotyzes me, it lulls me to sleep, it puts me into nirvana and back. It's what happens when really talented people collaborate.
I'm definitely going to contribute some artwork cause their music inspires me so much.
Can't avoid mentioning that the name of the band comes from soviet 5.45 bullets and some tribute to Fugazi's album 'Argument'.
It's a some sort of reality check. Unfortunately in the world that we live right now, not a reasonable argument but guns have the final say.
'Bullets have become units of communication and with time passing by only caliber changes.'
It's a motif of some russian criminal tattoos as well. My fav is this one by my so beloved Nicolai Lilin.

Just check A5.45 new album. Give love!
Meanwhile, Basilisk is one of my favourites. My relaxing song.

Pass This On

The Knife are a Swedish music duo whom I totally adore.
They are dark, they are northern souls, they are weird in a good way and 'Pass This On' is a genius video.
Couple weeks ago when I came across Fette Antiqua Kursive by George Trump, i just felt in love with its 'F' letter and got the idea of new logo for the band.
I just realized 'That's it' and got filled with inspiration. Good logo automatically brings ideas for its further usage. I even reached the moment when i needed to control myself and not to overdo stuff.
So, I've just finished working on the logo and cd packaging.
And I'm really happy with it.

If interested, check out more stills on my behance and give love! It will be much appreciated!

Сибирское воспитание | Siberian Education

Cannot ignore this book, its author and the fact that John Malkovich signed up to play in the movie adaptation.
Nicolai Lilin's 'Siberian Education' is a memoir, about growing up in a clan of “honest criminals” of Siberian origin in the Moldovan breakaway republic of Transnistria. This fact is killing me because i was born and grew up in this shithole. Mama mia. Geographical karma in action.

I'm dying to meet the author.
Right now Nicolai works as a tattoo artist in Turino, Italy adorning flash with russian styled pictures.

Cozy and Rebel

Finally, have finished my first handmade font. It's like Chewbacca: cozy and rebel at the same time. All 26 letters. And i'm totally in love with it. Please check out more and give love here.

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend

Well, I am in solidarity with Marilyn Monroe.
As for me, jewelry sections are one of the best editorials to be designed.
I did this kaleidoscopic jewelry mandalas for april issue of InStyle (russian edition). Love them. They are my favourite kids.

"Design is thinking made visual." - Saul Bass

I was so glad to bump into this poster while surfing Tumblr. It's really nice that somebody else likes it besides me.
Saul Bass is and always will be one of my favourite designers. This was my tribute to him and part of semester project at BHSAD which i did about a year ago.

If you want ti see more, here's process of creation.
